Chennai: IITM Pravartak Technologies Foundation has entered into a strategic collaboration with Sarvam AI (Axonwise Private Limited) to build and deploy sovereign AI-powered solutions for industry and government clients across India.
The partnership between IITM Pravartak and Sarvam AI marks a significant milestone in India’s journey toward technological self-reliance.
The collaboration brings together two organisations at the forefront of India’s artificial intelligence ecosystem. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) formalising this partnership was signed recently.
As India accelerates its national AI agenda, the demand for AI systems that understand Indian languages, reflect Indian contexts, and operate on Indian infrastructure continues to grow.

IITM Pravartak and Sarvam AI aim to address this demand by combining their respective strengths in AI research, infrastructure, and deployment.
Sarvam AI has emerged as a key player in building sovereign AI technologies, with expertise in developing multilingual AI solutions and scalable infrastructure tailored for India.
Its capabilities include foundational AI models such as multilingual language models, conversational AI, and speech technologies designed specifically for Indian languages and contextual requirements.
Complementing this, IITM Pravartak brings deep expertise in AI solution engineering, systems integration, and deployment. Operating from the IIT Madras Research Park, IITM Pravartak has a proven track record of delivering applied technology programmes for both industry and government.
Through this collaboration, IITM Pravartak and Sarvam AI will co-develop and deliver end-to-end, production-grade AI applications. These solutions will cater to critical sectors such as public administration, defence, financial services, and healthcare.
